Hampi Festival
Each year tens of thousands flock to this world heritage site in the heart of India to be part of Hampi Festival, a three-day cultural extravaganza that showcases a range of arts from across the country.
Behind this vibrant veil of joyous expression lies a hidden controversy surrounding the ancient town of Hampi. Its once-bustling centre was demolished two years ago and its oldest residents displaced in an attempt to convert this UNESCO site into a lifeless museum.
